Crockenhill Parish Council is inviting those aged between 10 and 18 to submit applications to form our inaugural Youth Council.

We are keen to involve young people in local democracy and decision-making, and the Youth Council will play an important role by discussing issues relevant to our younger residents, engaging with decision makers and contributing to improving the lives of young people within our community.
Interested applicants are invited to submit a personal statement of no more than 250 words explaining why they think they would make a good Youth Councillor for Crockenhill. All applicants must be a resident of Crockenhill/attend Crockenhill Primary School or be a member of a Crockenhill group or organisation and live within a 2 mile radius of the village hall. We are involving local groups as we hope to encourage a broad demographic so that those children who eventually make up the Youth Council will be able to bring ideas from their schools/groups/organisations and also report back on Youth Council decisions. We also hope that representatives from the Youth Council will attend the main Parish Council meetings when they have matters to report on.
One of the things the Parish Council has been looking at is the possibility of establishing a Youth Club. It was one of the most popular items on our recent community survey and something we are keen to progress but we feel strongly that it needs to be carefully thought through and something that the young people help to develop so that it delivers what they want and need. This will be one of the first items on the Youth Council agenda.
Once fully established, meetings will be held bi-monthly in the village hall and will run in a similar way to Parish Council meetings.
Closing date for applications is Friday 3rd April 2020. Parish Councillors will form a selection panel with representatives of local groups to select those candidates who will form our first Youth Council. If anyone wishes to find out more, please don’t hesitate to contact the Parish Clerk.
All statements/applications to be sent to clerk@crockenhillpc.org.uk
Thank you

Dear Residents,
Emergency Planning Contact List
Crockenhill Parish Council is in the process of updating its Emergency Plan. The Plan provides a framework for us, in the event of an emergency, to help those who may be vulnerable. Emergencies include power cuts, heavy snow and flooding.
We are updating our lists and would like to know of anyone who may rely on services such as electrical equipment or delivery of medication; are on their own and have no family living nearby; or are elderly and more vulnerable. You do not have to be a certain age to qualify. In most cases this will likely be just a quick call in an emergency to make sure all is well. In other situations, it may be that more help is needed, so Councillors will work with other agencies to ensure that support/assistance is directed where needed most.
We are also looking for more volunteers who may be
able to help during an emergency. Obviously, Emergency Services are always the
first port of call but there may be times when we need additional support for
residents. For example, those with 4x4 vehicles may be able to assist getting
people to hospital and getting shopping; those with a generator may be able to
help people who rely on electrical equipment; those with Nursing experience may
be able to help some of our most vulnerable. This is not intended to be a
regular commitment, just help in an emergency situation.
If you would like to be added to our Emergency contact
list or register as a volunteer, please contact clerk@crockenhillpc.org.uk
to
request a short form which can be completed in a few minutes and returned to
the Clerk by 28th Feb 2024.
Thank you
