PLEASE READ!

As explained last week, Sevenoaks District Council has been working hard to establish a volunteer register scheme - both for those wishing to volunteer and also for residents to log or call in with a request for practical assistance. This scheme has been set-up to protect our elderly and most vulnerable by putting in place an identification system. Many of our Crockenhill residents have already signed up as volunteers and have received their lanyards – thank you!
We know many of you are already helping neighbours and this is wonderful. Please continue to do so but if you feel that someone you know may require additional support at some point, or if you are no longer able to help, please do ask them to register their details:
https://www.sevenoaks.gov.uk/requesthelp or by telephoning 01732 227000
If you have not yet registered as a volunteer but think you may be able to help, please click here:
· https://www.sevenoaks.gov.uk/communityvolunteer or call 01732 227000
Any volunteer registering will receive a Community Volunteer lanyard with a unique identification number on. The resident being assisted can, if they wish, telephone the Council’s Contact Centre to check the identification of the volunteer.
Crockenhill Parish Council’s Role
All requests for practical assistance will be sent through to the volunteer lead in each area – for us in Crockenhill it is the Parish Council/Clerk. The Clerk will assign each request to a volunteer and contact both the person requesting help and the volunteer.
Swanley Town Council have put in place a system for shopping for emergency groceries and Crockenhill Parish Council is grateful for their offer to work with them. Further details on the process will be provided to each volunteer when they are first contacted for assistance.
In addition to the request coming through from SDC, we are still operating our Emergency Plan. All those on our list are being contacted every few days to check on their well-being and to see whether they require any further assistance. For some, it is just reassuring to know that they are not alone.
How Can You Help?

- Any food donations will be most welcomed. These are being collected at the Civic Centre Mon-Friday 9-5pm or Swanley Link from 9-12. Any surplus will be donated to the food bank.

Dear Residents,
Emergency Planning Contact List
Crockenhill Parish Council is in the process of updating its Emergency Plan. The Plan provides a framework for us, in the event of an emergency, to help those who may be vulnerable. Emergencies include power cuts, heavy snow and flooding.
We are updating our lists and would like to know of anyone who may rely on services such as electrical equipment or delivery of medication; are on their own and have no family living nearby; or are elderly and more vulnerable. You do not have to be a certain age to qualify. In most cases this will likely be just a quick call in an emergency to make sure all is well. In other situations, it may be that more help is needed, so Councillors will work with other agencies to ensure that support/assistance is directed where needed most.
We are also looking for more volunteers who may be
able to help during an emergency. Obviously, Emergency Services are always the
first port of call but there may be times when we need additional support for
residents. For example, those with 4x4 vehicles may be able to assist getting
people to hospital and getting shopping; those with a generator may be able to
help people who rely on electrical equipment; those with Nursing experience may
be able to help some of our most vulnerable. This is not intended to be a
regular commitment, just help in an emergency situation.
If you would like to be added to our Emergency contact
list or register as a volunteer, please contact clerk@crockenhillpc.org.uk
to
request a short form which can be completed in a few minutes and returned to
the Clerk by 28th Feb 2024.
Thank you
