Cricket Meadow Consultation
Cricket Meadow Consultation
As many will know, after the Cricket Club chose not to renew their lease a few years ago, and following the subsequent demolition of the pavilion, we have not had any sport officially played on the Cricket Meadow. However, we have now received an approach from a local youth football team who would like to hire the Cricket Meadow for training and matches, whilst using the parking and toilet facilities at neighbouring Green Court Sports Club.
Members of the
team came along to our March Parish Council meeting to outline their proposal
and Councillors had an opportunity to ask them questions around some of their
initial concerns, including how they would police parking to ensure that this
does not impact on residents and how we can ensure that the grass is not damaged
during wet weather. A copy of the March minutes can be found on the Minutes and Meetings
page. You can also find a copy of the club's traffic management proposal below.
The intention of the club is to use the land every Saturday for a few hours of training and Sundays for matches. There is currently no provision for youth football training in the village, and the club are keen to offer football to younger age groups so they do not have to travel outside of the village as they currently do. With many of the coaches and managers residents in Crockenhill, they are community-focused in their approach.
The Parish Council intends to discuss this in full at its full Parish Council meeting to be held on Thursday 9th July 2020, commencing at 7.30pm. This is a public meeting and everyone is welcome to attend. This meeting will be held online via Zoom. If you would like to join, please email the Clerk who can send you login detail.
Prior to this meeting, the parish council would like to canvas the views of the local residents. Please take part in our online survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/P7Q9Y6C
