Village Hall Open Day
Saturday 25th January

Crockenhill Village Hall will be part of a national campaign which celebrates England’s 10,000 village halls and the important role they play in our communities.
Celebrating in style, Crockenhill is hosting an open day on Saturday 25th January to showcase the many village groups and organisations that use our village hall and all the great work they do. Our KCC Councillor and Leader of the Council, Roger Gough will be attending, as well as our District Councillor, Rachel Waterton, and many of our Parish Councillors. Please join us between 10am and 2pm!
Ruth Fluin-Hardy, Chair of the Village Hall Committee said “Crockenhill Village Hall was built in 1958 and has been the cornerstone of our community ever since. Located in the centre of the village, it really is our community hub. So many important events, initiatives and ideas have all started here – whether it be in the planning of special events like last year’s Centenary to commemorate the end of WW1, information evenings to let residents know about important local planning issues or simply as a regular venue for all the groups, of all ages, that we have in Crockenhill. These things just wouldn’t happen if we didn’t have our village hall and dedicated volunteers to keep it going.”
Our open day is free to all and doors open at 10am. Come along and be entertained by the Farningham Guitar Club; learn more about the village’s history from the display kindly put together by our local historian, Dr Susan Pittman; our Parish Council will be talking to residents about their work and some of their ideas for village enhancements over the coming year; and all the various groups who use our village hall will be sharing what they do and encouraging more people to get involved.
We are also delighted to have as our very special guest opening this event, Mr Roy Warman, resident of Crockenhill since 1929. Mr Warman was on the first Village Hall Committee in 1958. Prior to this, Roy was part of the Victory Committee which was established at the end of WW2and actually raised the money to build our village hall! Roy will be sharing some of his memories of growing up in Crockenhill and the importance of the Village Hall in bringing the community together.
